BOUVET NETS TWO, INCLUDING WINNER AS ‘RAYS DOWN 'TAUROS 5-4

BLAINE, MINNESOTA – The Corpus Christi IceRays gave up two goals in the final period, however rebounded as Maurin Bouvet buried his second goal of the night with just 1:06 left in regulation to lift the IceRays for the first time this year 5-4 over the Minot Minotauros.

The scoring started 8:18 into the game as Malo Ville won the faceoff back to Frank Dini at the point.  Dini fired a shot that changed direction and found a hole in ‘Tauros goaltender Brandon Wildung for a 1-0 lead.

Bouvet picked up his first of the night after Eric Purcell drove to the net, Jake Durflinger and Kyle Froese each got sticks on the puck before Bouvet slid the rebound by Wildung at 9:10 to take a 2-0 lead.

The Minotauros responded at 12:31 courtesy of Jack Forbort who wristed a shot from the top of the circle that changed direction and sailed by IceRays goaltender Scott Albertoni to split the lead in half at 2-1.

In the second period just three minutes in, Jake McCann knotted the game up at two goals apiece with an unassisted goal that went off the inside of the post.

The back-and-forth game continued this time in the IceRays favor.  Tony Roisum worked his way to the front of the net and created an excellent scoring chance with the rebound going right to Martin Hojbjerg who went top shelf to score his first of the year and Corpus Christi regained the one goal lead, this time at 3-2.

Eric Purcell finally broke the ice in the third period at the 7:00 mark to give the ‘Rays a two goal lead after Jason Lem took a shot from the point, Purcell jammed at the rebound and finally pushed it in to take a 4-2 lead in the final period.

Minot stormed back starting at 10:36 off the stick of Krisztian Nagy who pulled the ‘Tauros within a single goal.  The lone assist went to Cameron Rowat.

The comeback was completed with just 2:28 left to go in the game.  A big scrum erupted in front of the net and the puck sat right on the goal-line until Jadin Martin tapped it in with assists from Tyler Shipstad and Michael Bigelbach tying the game at four all.

Then with only 1:08 left in the game, Eric Purcell and Jake Durflinger caused problems in front of the Minot net and in the scrum Bouvet tallied his second goal of the game, and eventual game winner as Corpus Christi took a late 5-4 lead.

Scott Albertoni stopped 28 of 32 shots on net by the Minotauros.
