ICERAYS ACQUIRE GUY ROBY FROM ASTON REBELS

Sep 30, 2015

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The Corpus Christi IceRays of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) have acquired forward Guy Roby from the Aston Rebels in exchange for a 2015-16 tender, the team announced Wednesday afternoon.

Roby, 19, played four games with the Rebels this season, recording two goals and a +1 rating. The Philadelphia, Penn., native debuted in the NAHL during the 2014-15 season with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, recording seven goals and three assists for 10 points with 18 penalty minutes and a -13 rating through 41 games. Prior to his stint in the NAHL, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound forward played 36 games with Team Comcast 18U in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League (T1EHL) in 2013-14, recording 21 goals and 30 assists for 51 points with 24 penalty minutes, finishing sixth in the league in scoring behind former Amarillo Bulls forwards Charlie Combs and J.J. Huerena.

This is the second move this season within the NAHL to strengthen the depth of the IceRays, with the first coming in July in the acquisition of goaltender Dryden McKay from the Springfield Jr. Blues. The trade brings the IceRays active roster to the league-maximum 23 players due to the injury of forward Regen Cavanagh placing him in the injured reserve list, including 14 forwards, seven defensemen, and two goaltenders.

The IceRays open their 2015-16 home schedule on Friday, October 2 at 7:05 p.m. against the Amarillo Bulls at the American Bank Center.
