CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi IceRays are set to host their fourth ever Main Camp as members of the North American Hockey League in Euless, Texas from July 26th to the 28th at the Dr. Pepper Star Center as players from all over will converge for the chance to become an IceRay for the 2013-14 campaign.
It will not only be an introduction for new players, tenders, and draft picks, but also for newly hired head coach John Becanic who will be attending his first Corpus Christi Main Camp while getting used to the players all at the same time.
“Main camp will be a bit of an introduction to the players for me familiarizing myself with our veteran players, tenders, and draft picks,” said Becanic. “Assistant Coach Jeff Worlton and the rest of the hockey operations staff have worked hard to make the camp competitive. I am always hopeful at this time of year that players come to camp sharing the enthusiasm that our staff does.”
The camp kicks off on Friday, July 26th with separate practices in the morning followed by games in the afternoon. Saturday slates a full day of games followed by the All-Star contest Sunday to determine the roster.
Work ethic is at the top of the list of players that will be looked at by the IceRays hockey operations staff during the camp.
“We are looking for players that have a relentless work ethic” Becanic added. “Players who compete for loose pucks when we don't have it and value the puck when we do. Coachable players that work within a team concept.”

The IceRays are entering their fourth season in the North American Hockey League and are coming off the best season yet. Corpus Christi qualified for the 2013 NAHL Playoffs and took Amarillo to four games in the first round before falling to the eventual National Champions.
