ICERAYS SIGN TEXAS NATIVE TOMMY DIERL TO TENDER

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi IceRays have announced the signing of Texas forward Tommy Dierl to a tender for next season.  Dierl, from Allen, Texas finished third in scoring on the NAPHL’s Texas Tornado U18 team.

“Tommy is another success story from Texas where he is a player we are familiar with and was teammates with Chris Stovall last season,” said head coach Justin Quenneville.  “He had a great season and we look forward to seeing him at Main Camp this summer.”

In 21 games this year with the Texas Tornado 18U in the PHL, Dierl notched 13 goals and 14 assists along with 36 penalty minutes.   In playoffs, the 6ft 175lb forward assisted three goals in four games.

This is the first NAPHL signing by the IceRays this season. 

“We had a lot of success signing players from the PHL with Heuser, Hutton and Schulz all respectively coming from U16 programs last year,” Quenneville finished.

Now in its fourth season, the North American Prospects Hockey League (PHL) is made up of 36 Midget Major (18), Midget Minor (18) teams from 19 programs that compete at the USA Hockey Tier I AAA level.

The PHL is comprised of six regular-season events leading up to its Championship Tournament Series in which the top teams at each level compete for a league championship.

The IceRays are home this weekend as they take on the Wichita Falls Wildcats.  Puck drops at 7:05PM, coverage begins at 6:50PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on sportsjuice.com, ustream.com, the TuneIn Radio APP, and fasthockey.
