Oct 7, 2011

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The Corpus Christi IceRays defeated the Amarillo Bulls in overtime 3-2 to salvage a weekend split inside the American Bank Center.

Amarillo struck 10:47 into the first period as Omar Mullan slid the puck past Anthony Stolarz to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

Corpus Christi did not give up, Eric Purcell continues to stay hot and he tied the game at one 14:32 into the second period.  He received a pass from Danny Fetzer behind the net going top shelf for his fourth goal of the year.

Danny Fetzer is a machine on the penalty kill scoring his second shorthanded goal in as many nights beating Gregg Gruehl on the blocker side 3:42 into the third period giving the IceRays a 2-1 lead.

Amarillo tied the game at two apiece after Omar Mullan took a bad angle shot and somehow found the back of the net 6:07 into the final period of play.

Nobody broke the tie at the end of regulation, then in overtime Justin Lutsch took a shot, deflected off an Amarillo player and into the net winning the game for Corpus Christi and ending their three game skid.

Anthony Stolarz stole the show in net for the IceRays stopping 44 of 46 shots.
