MYERS STOPS 32 SHOTS IN 4-0 LOSS TO AMARILLO

Oct 18, 2013

AMARILLO, TX – The Corpus Christi IceRays could not cash in on numerous chances as the Amarillo Bulls swept the weekend with a 4-0 victory backed by two power-play goals in the third period at the Amarillo Civic Center on Saturday night.

The first goal of the game came off a pileup in front of the net.  A shot by Brady Ferguson was stopped by Ben Myers, but the loose puck found a way to the stick of Mitchell McPherson who scored his first goal of the year at the 15:03 mark of the opening frame.  Ferguson picked up the only assist.

Corpus Christi missed a glorious opportunity as Martin Hojbjerg went down the right wing wall hitting his brother Martin with a pass that had Paul Berrafato sprawling in net to get in place.  Hojbjerg though could not get enough on the puck to tie the game.

Minutes later the Bulls struck again off a turnover.  Tyler Gernhofer knocked Nick Monfils off the puck causing a change in posession.  Gernhofer hit Matt Sieckhaus with a pass at the top of the slot who fired a wrister by Myers for a 2-0 lead with only 2:45 left in the first period.

After no scoring in the second period, the Bulls tacked on two more goals on the power-play to seal the win.  The first came at 8:06 as Kyle Gattelaro pounded home the puck by Ben Myers with assists from Mike Davis and Brady Ferguson for a 3-0 lead.

After the IceRays went down on the penalty-kill again in the third, Tyler Gernhofer converted with only 2:54 left to go in the game to move the Bulls out to a 4-0 lead.  The assists were given to Sieckhaus and Brendan Vetter.

Ben Myers stopped 32 of 36 shots in the loss.
