SAN ANTONIO FIRE DEPARTMENT WINS CHARITY HOCKEY TOURNEY

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The annual Guns and Hoses Charity hockey tournament is a benefit for families of fallen Police Officers and Firefighters.  This year, former IceRays and CHL players took to the ice in Dallas, TX with Firefighters, Military, and EMS of San Antonio in IceRays uniforms and took the title!

“We are very grateful for what the IceRays did for us,” said Ryan Edwards, who competed in the event.  “We can't thank Pat enough for his generosity. It just shows how close knit this hockey community is.  Not only were we proud to wear the IceRays jerseys, but we also won the tournament.”

Several former CHL players participated in the tournament.  Ryan Edwards, Rob Galatiuk, and Scott Green all played in San Antonio during the CHL days.  In addition, Brent Currie played in San Angelo during the CHL tenure as well.

“That's the least we could have done for these guys that put their lives on the line every day in order to keep us safe” said general manager Pat Dunn.  “There was also two former IceRays in that group, Rob Galatiuk and Brent Currie and several  CHL San Antonio Iguanas. I'm glad that it all worked out for them. We always had a great relationship with the Corpus Christi Firefighters as we play our annual game for Pink in the Rink.  We just grew our Firefighter team.  On behalf of the IceRays organization we want to congratulate them on winning the tournament.”
