WILDCATS ORGANIZATION OPENS ARMS TO THE ‘RAYS ON THANKSGIVING

Nov 27, 2013

WICHITA FALLS, TX – During the holidays, for players and staff of teams it most likely will be spent away from home.  This year for the Corpus Christi IceRays, Thanksgiving will be spent in Wichita Falls.  Wildcats owner Roy Davoult went above and beyond the call of duty this Thanksgiving by providing the IceRays with a turkey dinner, bringing a little bit of home on the road.

“In the midst of a hockey season you have a lot of ups and downs, wins and losses, and tough games where the competition is very fierce.  We honor players every game with Three Stars, Players of the Week and Month. Often gestures go unnoticed,” said IceRays general manager Pat Dunn.  “Wildcats owner Roy Davoult just showed some great sportsmanship by inviting our team to a turkey dinner during our road trip to Wichita Falls over the Thanksgiving break. Roy just showed what kind of guy he is. We often forget what kind of sacrifices those kids make by leaving home at a young age and being away from home during the holidays. It's nice that there are still some good people in this game. On behalf of the IceRays organization, I want to thank Roy for his actions. Mr. Davoult, you are a class act.”

For junior hockey players, leaving home at a young age can be very tough.  Being away for holidays is ever tougher.  “It's always tough spending the holidays on the road,” said IceRays veteran Grant Hutton.  “We the players would like to say thank you to the Wichita Falls owner and organization for providing us with an unbelievable Thanksgiving meal and a special atmosphere that makes us feel a little closer to home.”

It’s not just the players, but also the staff who are grateful for this amazing act of kindness.  “Thanksgiving is a time to be spent with family and loved ones,” said head coach John Becanic.  “Our deepest thanks goes out to Roy and the Wichita Falls organization for allowing our family of players to celebrate thanksgiving together.”

The IceRays are on the road this weekend as they take on the Wichita Falls Wildcats.  Puck drops at 7:05PM, coverage begins at 6:50PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on 91.1FM KSGR, ksgr.org, ustream.com, and fasthockey.com.
