ICERAYS FALL 5-2 AT AMARILLO FRIDAY

AMARILLO, Texas – The South Division leading Amarillo Bulls extended their point streak to 18 games with a 5-2 victory Friday against the Corpus Christi IceRays at Budweiser Bull Pen at Amarillo Civic Center.

The IceRays (18-13-1-0, 37 pts.) grabbed a 2-1 lead in the second period before the Bulls (23-3-2-2, 50 pts.) scored the game’s final four goals, including a pair of power-play tallies in the third period.

Jake Willets opened the scoring for Amarillo at the 10:15 mark of the first period with a shot from the right circle that beat IceRays goaltender Sam Best on the blocker side.

The IceRays tied the game, 1-1, prior to the first intermission when Nikita Krivokrasov fired a glove-side shot from just inside the right circle. Anthony Firriolo and Nicholas Seitz recorded the assists.

In the second period, the IceRays grabbed the lead thanks to Jake Stella’s cash-in of a Kyle Moore feed at 11:21. Blake Bennett picked up the secondary helper for his team-leading 20th assist of the season.

The lead did not last for long as Jordan Venegoni tied the game 1:45 later, then Logan Jenuwine recorded the game-winning goal with his NAHL-leading 25th goal of the season, scored just 40 seconds before the second intermission.

In the third period, Brett Abdelnour (4:01) and Brenden Datema (7:40) scored on the Bulls’ first two power plays of the night to secure the three-goal win.

Amarillo outshot Corpus Christi by a 37-36 margin. Jason Grande made 34 saves for the Bulls.

The IceRays and Bulls continue their three-in-three weekend in Amarillo with a 7:05 PM faceoff Saturday and 4:05 PM faceoff Sunday.
