ICERAYS WIN SEVENTH STRAIGHT, MOVE INTO SECOND-PLACE TIE

Dec 21, 2018

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas – The Corpus Christi IceRays picked up their seventh win in a row on Friday night, a 2-1 defeat of the Lone Star Brahmas, to move into a tie for second place in the NAHL’s South Division.

Kyle Moore and Santeri Hartikainen scored for the IceRays while goaltender Sam Best made 24 saves. Hartikainen has recorded as least one point in nine-consecutive games. The IceRays have not dropped a game since a Nov. 23 loss at the Brahmas.

In his first appearance of December, IceRays captain Kyle Moore returned to the lineup and immediately found his way onto the scoresheet. Moore received a centering pass from Blake Bennett and fired a shot in from the top of the slot at 17:58 to open the scoring.

In the opening minute of the second period, Joey Baez scored a power-play goal for the Brahmas to tie the game, 1-1.

Corpus Christi regained the lead when Santeri Hartikainen recorded a power-play goal of his own just 25 seconds into the third period. The game-winning tally was fired in up top off a feed from Brian Kramer. Late in the game, the Brahmas pulled netminder Harrison Feeney in favor of an extra attacker. Best made a sensational split save in the game’s final minute to hold on for the one-goal victory.

The IceRays outshot the Brahmas by a 31-25 margin.

Corpus Christi and Lone Star rematch Saturday night at NYTEX Sports Centre. Puck drop is set for 7:30 PM CT and the game broadcast will be exclusive to HockeyTV. Corpus Christi’s next home game at American Bank Center is Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 against the Shreveport Mudbugs at 7:05 PM CT.
