TONIGHT’S GAME… Before the IceRays head north to Minnesota for the 2013 NAHL Showcase they make a stop in Topeka on the way for a pair of games. It will be the Corpus Christi’s only visit to the Expocentre this year. Last season against the RoadRunners, the Rays’ picked up their first win over Topeka since joining the North American Hockey League in 2010-2011. The IceRays return only six players to start the season and will look to them for a good start. Eric Purcell will skate his third season with Corpus Christi, while Grant Hutton and Caleb O’Brien will be a key presence on the defensive side for the IceRays. The toughness will be covered in returners with Brandon Berkley and Luke McDiarmid. Between the pipes is a three way battle between returner Ben Myers and newcomers Forbes Ploszaj along with Scott Albertoni.
TONIGHT’S BROADCASTS… Listen LIVE tonight beginning at 7:00PM on 91.1FM KSGR, ksgr.org, ustream.com, and “Listen Live” on the IceRays website while a video broadcast is also available for a small fee on fasthockey.com. Puck drops at 7:15PM.
THE SERIES… This is the first meeting of four this season between Corpus Christi and Topeka. Last year, the Roadrunners took the season series 3-0-1.
– IceRays record vs. TOP: 0-0-0
ADDING THE IMPORTS… In the off-season, the IceRays picked up the max of imports with twins from Denmark, Mikkel & Martin Hojbjerg, along with two forwards from France, Malo Ville and Maurin Bouvet.
