CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The IceRays have hired Dylan Schoen, a Maryland native, as the team’s new assistant coach.
Being the assistant coach behind the IceRays bench will be the first stop in the coaching career for Schoen, a former goaltender for Stevenson University. Schoen also played for SUNY-Geneseo during his time in collegiate hockey.
Schoen says he’s “beyond excited” about joining the IceRays. Schoen said, “This organization is one of the best in the NAHL and the culture that is being implemented by both the coaching staff as well as the front office is something that makes working here that much more exciting.”
He will be assisting head coach Mike Lysyj who was hired in May. Lysyj said the following about the hiring of Schoen. “I’m really excited to work with Dylan. As a former goaltender, he brings a wealth of knowledge and a perspective on a position that is extremely important to championship caliber teams. He has a demeanor that will help our culture. He’s a team first guy and his morals and values align with everything we stand for. He is a great addition to our staff.”
