Mar 24, 2023

Amarillo, TX (March 24th, 2023) – The Corpus Christi IceRays’ next game is tonight, Friday, March 24th, 2023 at Budweiser Bull Pen. Puck drops at 7:15 PM CDT against the Amarillo Wranglers.

Game Preview

The IceRays arrived in Amarillo to take on the Wranglers for their third consecutive weekend on the road. Tonight will be the fifth of eight total meetings between the clubs this season and will kick off back-to-back weekends against their South Division rivals.

The IceRays are 1-2-1 against the Wranglers this year. On their last trip to Amarillo, they opened the two-game series by erasing a three-goal lead held by the Wranglers. The IceRays trailed 3-0 and scored four unanswered goals to lead the Wranglers in the third period, eventually falling 5-4 in overtime. The back half of the series was a bit more lopsided, a 7-1 decision in favor of the Wranglers.

The IceRays are coming off of a three-point weekend in Odessa in which they tallied a combined 10 goals and will look to continue their scoring touch this weekend. They check in at 11-34-6-1 overall for 29 points.

The Wranglers are coming off a three-game set in Oklahoma in which they defeated the top-ranked Warriors by a score of 6-2 last Saturday, snapping a four-game slide. They enter the contest with a record of 26-23-2-1 for 55 points.

Players to Watch

IceRays veteran forward Cam Crolley found the back of the net twice last Saturday in the IceRays’ third period comeback against the Jackalopes, which snapped a 19-game goal drought for Crolley who now has three points over his last two games. The Kansas City, MO native appears to be heating up as he approaches 90 games played in an IceRays uniform. Look for #18 in Red to be a factor as the IceRays look to extend the point streak to three games.

Amarillo defenseman Pierce Patterson has not cooled off much since the IceRays last saw the Wranglers, leading all NAHL defenseman with 46 points. The Austin, TX native had five points in the Wranglers series against Oklahoma last weekend and has two goals and four assists in four games against the IceRays this year. Look for Patterson to be active as he takes the ice in his 50th career NAHL game tonight.
