CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The Corpus Christi IceRays, in conjunction with the North American Hockey League (NAHL), have released the regular season schedule for the 2018-19 season. The IceRays will play 28 games at the American Bank Center beginning on Friday, Sep. 28 against the defending Robertson Cup Champions, the Shreveport Mudbugs.
The IceRays will play a 60-game schedule, which includes 48 games against South Division opponents, eight games against Central Division foes and four games at the annual NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minn. Including the league event, there are six weekday games (Monday through Thursday) and four Sunday games as well as five three-game, three-day sets, two of which occur at the American Bank Center. The IceRays will also play four games against Alaska opponents.
The IceRays open the 2018-19 regular season on Thursday, Sep. 13 in Shreveport for a two-game, three-day set before traveling to the NAHL Showcase from September 19-22. The 2018-19 home opener on Friday, Sep. 28 against the Mudbugs opens an 11-game home stand, the longest home stand of the season. In that time from September 28 to November 17, the IceRays will face the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and Kenai River Brown Bears for the first time since the 2013-14 season, host the first of two three-game, three-day sets at home, and end the stretch with one of two Sunday home games this season. Nearly half of the team’s home games come during this run.
The next 10 combined games all come against the Lone Star Brahmas and Odessa Jackalopes, including five-straight games against the Jackalopes to open December and the lone two home games during the month on December 7 and 8. The IceRays then begin a 10-game road trip on December 13 that includes two three-game, three-day sets and spans through Sunday, Jan. 6 in Amarillo.
The IceRays play five games at home in January starting on January 12 for a two-game set against Shreveport and the second of two three-game, three-day sets against Amarillo to close the month from January 25-27. After the seven-game month, the IceRays make their two-week trip to Alaska to take on Fairbanks on February 1 and 2 and Kenai River on February 8 and 9.
The second-longest home stand of six games begins on February 15 with three-straight weekends at the American Bank Center against Odessa, Lone Star and Amarillo. The final game of the stand also opens a new month on Friday, Mar. 1 against the Bulls. The IceRays make their only trip to the Kansas Expocentre to take on the Topeka Pilots on March 8 and 9. Following one more home weekend on March 15 and 16, the IceRays play their final five road games of the season lasting from March 22-31.
The IceRays end the 2018-19 regular season at the American Bank Center on Friday, Apr. 5 and Saturday, Apr. 6 against the Topeka Pilots.
