The Corpus Christi IceRays pick back up after the holiday break with their four-game set against the Shreveport Mudbugs at the American Bank Center, closing out the 2016 calendar year. The IceRays and Mudbugs split their weekend in Shreveport prior to the holiday with the IceRays taking three of four points, sliding the IceRays’ record to 3-1-1 in the season series. The IceRays are 2-1-0 at home against Shreveport this season, and all-time they own a 24-26-5 in 54 games including the WPHL and CHL franchise series.

South Division Outlook:
While the standings remain the same with the league’s off-weekend, the South Division takes shape this weekend with a few matchups. The Corpus Christi IceRays kicks off the NAHL resumption of play with two mid-week games against the Shreveport Mudbugs, the Amarillo Bulls look to continue their momentum in a three-game set against the Odessa Jackalopes at the Ector County Coliseum, the Wichita Falls Wildcats also have a three-game weekend and hope to extend their hot run as of late to close out the calendar year against the Topeka RoadRunners, and the Lone Star Brahmas play a single game against the Mudbugs on the road on Saturday.

ICERAYS BITS…

The IceRays continue their tradition of mid-week games at home between Christmas and New Year’s Day while having success as of late in the set. The team has won three-straight games between the two holidays over the last two seasons, suffering their last loss on Dec. 27, 2013 against Rio Grande Valley. Overall, the IceRays are 5-5-0 dating back to the 2011-12 season in mid-holiday games. The franchise did not play between Christmas and New Year’s Day in the 2010-11 season.
