The Corpus Christi IceRays host Pink In The Rink weekend while also welcoming back the Shreveport Mudbugs to the American Bank Center for the first time in six years. The IceRays and Mudbugs meet for the first time in junior franchise history for regular season play. The two teams met in Shreveport for two preseason games, and the Mudbugs took both 4-3 and 4-2, respectively. In their professional series, the IceRays held a 21-25-4 record through 50 games of WPHL and CHL play. However, since moving to the American Bank Center, the IceRays are 5-5-1 on home ice including grabbing wins in five of those six seasons.

Promotions:
THURSDAY: The MD Anderson Kids Day Game, presented by Smile Life Orthodontics, Promptu Immediate Care and Schlitterbahn, makes its return in the 2016-17 season to kick off the three-game weekend set at 10:00 a.m. The IceRays invite local schools to a game to help promote an educational foundation while entertaining and exposing younger fans to hockey. This year’s topic is tobacco use and cancer prevention. Thursday is also a Winning Weekday game, meaning buy-one, get-one tickets are available to the general public.
FRIDAY: The IceRays go back to a 7:05 p.m. start with a Tride Rideshare Frosty Friday and Texas A&M Kingsville Night. $1 beer and soda will be offered throughout the game, and fans who use the promo code “icerays” on the Tride Passenger app receives $5 off their fare, courtesy of Tride Rideshare.
SATURDAY: The IceRays welcome back the 9th annual Pink In The Rink game, presented by AutoNation, KRIS-TV, Radiology & Imaging, and South Texas Surgical. The IceRays will wear special pink-themed jerseys throughout the weekend and are available to the public in the Eddie Jackson, New York Life Post-Game Jersey Auction following Saturday’s game. Fans will have a chance to bid on their favorite player’s jersey in that event. There will also be a silent auction table, 50/50 raffle, and more in the evening’s festivities. This season, the IceRays have four beneficiaries for the game: Corpus Christi Firefighters C.A.R.E., Christus Spohn Cancer Center, First Friday, and Mission Mercy. Saturday is also a Caller-Times Family 4-Pack Night, with four tickets, four hot dogs, and four sodas available for just $48.

South Division Outlook:
The Lone Star Brahmas opened up their first full weekend at the NYTEX Sports Centre with a two-game weekend sweep of the Topeka RoadRunners, improving their win streak to five games and keeping them atop the South Division. The Shreveport Mudbugs hosted a three-game weekend and won all three, taking down the Odessa Jackalopes on Friday and Saturday night while topping the RoadRunners on Sunday, who fell in all three games played. Three teams all remained idle: Amarillo BullsCorpus Christi IceRays, and Wichita Falls Wildcats.

ICERAYS BITS…

Of the first five game weekends spanning two months, the IceRays are entering their fourth minimum three-in-three game set and second coming off a bye-week. In two sole three-in-three sets, the IceRays are 3-2-1 with a win on opening night in Wichita Falls (4-3 OT) and two wins in Topeka (4-3 W, 4-1 W). Including the inital three games of the NAHL Showcase, the IceRays are 4-3-2 in three-game sets.

 


IN THE COMMUNITY…

The IceRays will be at Wilkinson Chevrolet in Refugio, Texas on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. to meet with fans and sign autographs. The event is open to the public, and fans are encouraged to head out for free ticket vouchers, autographs, and to test drive a new vehicle.
