RISE WITH US

Apr 9, 2017

The Corpus Christi IceRays are headed back to the postseason for the second time in three seasons. Amid a change of guard on the bench, the IceRays have completed their first step in bringing a winning culture to the city of Corpus Christi: making the postseason.

This year, the IceRays have paved the way for multiple new records for the junior franchise and the total team franchise’s 19-year history in the Coastal Bend. The 2016-17 IceRays finished the season with a 32-19-4-5 record and 73 points, which is the best in junior franchise history across the board. The year has been one of the best for the franchise, sitting second in win percentage (.608) over the last 19 years only behind the inaugural 1998-99 season (.623). In addition, the team also set a new junior franchise record for consecutive wins with seven victories from January 28 to February 17, and goaltender Tomáš Vomáčka’s six-game win streak crossing into 2017 set a new junior franchise record. Plus, IceRays head coach Brad Flynn now owns the best record for a first-year head coach in junior franchise history and second best in the last 19 seasons.

But, the story is not over. The IceRays want more than just to make it to the playoffs: they want to make a run for the Robertson Cup. The IceRays have made it a point to rebound this season and rise with the tide of the Coastal Bend, and they’ve accomplished that feat. Now, they want your help.

The IceRays Family has been the most loyal fanbase in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) since the junior inception in the 2010-11 season, and for the fourth-straight year have led the NAHL in attendance. Now, more than ever, the IceRays want your support as the quest for the Robertson Cup continues.

Rise with us.
