IceRays forward Rylee St. Onge has been named the South Division Second Star of the Week, the NAHL announced Monday.

“Rylee had a tremendous weekend for us,” IceRays Head Coach Brad Flynn said. “He is an elite shooter who plays a 200-foot game and he was a big contributor to our weekend success.”

St. Onge drove the IceRays offensively last weekend against the first-place Shreveport Mudbugs, leading them to their first sweep against the Bugs this season to close out their final road trip.

The St. Catharines, Ontario native has been a prime reason for the rebirth of the IceRays’ power play. He assisted on Larry Jungwirth’s power play goal just 1:55 into the weekend, and scored a go-ahead goal at the end of the first period on Friday night.

Saturday, St. Onge (6’0”, 185) added two more points on the man-advantage to extend his point streak to four games and propel himself to the team lead in points with 46 (20 G, 26 A). He opened the scoring at 5:36 with a snipe from the right circle, and had the primary assist on Brendan Miller’s game-winning power play goal at 36:31.

St. Onge and the IceRays will prepare to host the Odessa Jackalopes at the American Bank Center this Friday and Saturday. Puck drop is set for 7:05 pm CT. Saturday is KIII Night; anyone using the code KIII at the box office will receive a Buy One Get One ticket deal. Both games will be broadcast on HockeyTV and on YouTube.
