AMARILLO, Texas – The Amarillo Bulls defeated the Corpus Christi IceRays 8-2 Saturday night in the middle game of a 3-in-3 weekend at the Budweiser Bull Pen at Amarillo Civic Center. Logan Jenuwine recorded four points (2+2) to lead the Bulls to victory.

Amarillo has now gone 19 consecutive games without a regulation loss (15-0-2-1). The two teams rematch Sunday afternoon at 4:05 PM CT.

Matt Minerva registered his first goal as an IceRay to open the game’s scoring with a power-play goal at 6:40 of the first period. The goal, assisted by Nicholas Seitz and Santeri Hartikainen, was the first power-play goal scored by Corpus Christi against Amarillo this season.

However, the Bulls responded with the next four goals to close the first period. Jenuwine scored his first of the night at 7:35, then Matt Allen (10:37), Brenden Datema (13:41) and Jake Willets (18:40) also lit the lamp to put the Bulls up 4-1 at the first intermission.

The IceRays got back within a pair late in the second period thanks to a power-play goal from Seitz at 18:07, assisted by Kyle Moore and Hartikainen. But again the Bulls had a response as Brett Abdelnour scored on the power play, giving Amarillo a 5-2 lead at the second intermission.

The Bulls put away three power-play goals (12:33, 15:15, 15:54) in the third period, including Jenuwine’s NAHL-leading 27th tally of the season, as Amarillo skated to the six-goal victory.

The six-goal loss was the first time the IceRays lost by more than four goals this season. Seven of the game’s 10 combined goals were scored on the power play.
