MUDBUGS CLOSE OUT SWEEP OF ICERAYS

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Shreveport Mudbugs scored seven goals in a span of 9:43, starting with the first four all on the same major power play, to hand the Corpus Christi IceRays their worst loss of the season, 8-0.

Jacob Smith scored twice for the Mudbugs. Maiszon Balboa recorded a 16-save shutout.

Aidan Metcalfe, Jacob Smith, Tim Khokhlachev, Conor Witherspoon, Billy Feczko, Anton Rubtsov and Matt Weber also scored for Shreveport. Rubtsov and Khokhlachev each also recorded three assists.

The IceRays were limited to five shots in the first period, nine in the second period and just two in the third period. Shreveport committed no penalties in the game.

Corpus Christi finished the 12-game season series with the Mudbugs with an 0-11-1-0 record.

The IceRays travel this weekend to North Richland Hills to face the Lone Star Brahmas. Puck drop on Friday and Saturday nights is at 7:30 p.m. CT. The IceRays and Brahmas then play a pair of games in Corpus Christi the following weekend.
