ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Evan Carroll recorded three points (2+1) and Jeremy Forman stopped all 25 shots faced as the Corpus Christi IceRays shut out the New Mexico Ice Wolves, 5-0, at Outpost Ice Arenas.

The win marked Corpus Christi’s first shutout since the Home Opener (Oct. 10) and the IceRays’ first regulation win against the Ice Wolves this season. Erik Bargholtz (1+1) and Shane Shell (0+2) each notched two points.

IceRays defenseman Mac Wiseman opened the scoring with his second goal in as many nights, firing a far-side shot from the left wing past New Mexico goaltender Henrik Laursen’s glove.

Carroll scored his first of the night with two quick moves to the outside, followed by a shot over Laursen’s glove, at 2:44 of the second period. Just over a minute later, Bargholtz fed Ryan Coughlin for a power play one-timer at 3:49, marking Coughlin’s team-leading 16th goal of the season and Bargholtz’s team-leading 18th assist of the season. Carroll then made it 4-0 off a backhand shot on a breakaway created by passes from Shell and Tyler Orban at 11:06.

At 12:25 of the third period, Ethan Benz dropped a pass to Bargholtz, who quickly sniped in a shot to put the IceRays up by five.

The IceRays outshot the Ice Wolves, 31-25, including a 14-2 margin in the third period. In a game filled with minor penalties, the two teams skated on a combined 18 power plays.
