CARROLL NAMED NAHL SOUTH DIVISION STAR OF THE WEEK

Mar 9, 2020

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Corpus Christi IceRays forward Evan Carroll has been named NAHL South Division Star of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for Week 26 (March 2-8, 2020), the North American Hockey League announced Monday.

Carroll, 18, recorded four points during the IceRays’ weekend split in Albuquerque against the New Mexico Ice Wolves, including a three-point outing (2+1) in Saturday’s win.

“Evan created his chances this weekend through his effort and play away from the puck,” said IceRays Interim Head Coach Nate Weossner. “He did a nice job supporting his linemates and cashed in when he got his opportunities.”

The 5-11, 180-pound native of Flint, Mich., is the only played to appear in all 53 IceRays games so far this season. Carroll’s first-star honors are the first for an IceRays player since Week 1 (Shane Bull – Sept. 16, 2019). He originally debuted in the NAHL last season with two games played for the Amarillo Bulls. Carroll is a product of the Little Caesars Hockey program.

IceRays goaltender Jeremy Forman, who recorded a 25-save shutout Saturday, was chosen as a Week 26 Honorable Mention.

The IceRays return home to the American Bank Center for a 3-in-3 weekend March 13-15 against the Odessa Jackalopes. Puck drop on Friday and Saturday nights is at 7:05 p.m., and Sunday’s matinee is at 3:05 p.m. College students with valid ID receive free admission on Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday is the annual Pucks & Paws game where fans can bring their dog to the game.

IceRays games, home and away, are carried live on Sports Radio Corpus Christi 1230 AM-95.1 FM-96.1 FM (KSIX-AM/FM), mixlr.com/icerays and HockeyTV.
