ICERAYS BLANKED SATURDAY IN FIRST REGULATION LOSS

BLAINE, Minn. – At the final day of the 2019 NAHL Showcase, the Springfield Jr. Blues shut out the Corpus Christi IceRays, 1-0, at Super Rink. The loss was the first for Corpus Christi (3-1-0-2, 8 pts.) in regulation this season. The IceRays went 2-1-0-1 at the Showcase.

Adisen Brueck of Springfield (2-2-0-0, 4 pts.) scored the game’s only goal. Jr. Blues goaltender Ryan Wilson recorded a 28-save shutout.

The IceRays dominated in shots in the first period by a 13-3 margin, but it was Springfield lighting the lamp at the 16:23 mark. Brueck fired a far-side shot from the left circle past Corpus Christi goaltender Jeremy Forman’s glove.

Corpus Christi limited its opponent to just one goal for a third-consecutive game. The IceRays doubled the Jr. Blues in shots, 28-14. The IceRays have yet to allow a power-play goal against in 15 total times shorthanded this season.

The IceRays now head back to South Texas and are scheduled to practice on home ice for the first time this season on Tuesday. Next weekend, the team is back on the road for a pair of games at the Lone Star Brahmas.
