Oct 12, 2019

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – After a string of five-consecutive wins against the Jackalopes over the previous eight nights, the Corpus Christi IceRays fell to Odessa by a 2-1 final Saturday in front of 3,072 fans at American Bank Center.

Ryan Coughlin opened the scoring with his IceRays-leading seventh goal of the season at the 11:05 mark of the first period. Coughlin skated in on the right wing, drew netminder Aaron Randazzo out of the crease and tucked the puck in at the near post. Just over seven minutes later, Nick Kiemel tied the game for the Jackalopes with a tip from the low slot.

Early in the second period, Vilho Saariluoma regained the lead for Odessa off a rebound for the eventual game-winning goal at 1:42.

The Jackalopes outshot the IceRays, 27-20, including limiting Corpus Christi to just four shots on goal in the third period. Cal Sandquist made 25 saves for the IceRays. The IceRays finished the three-game weekend a perfect 17-for-17 on the penalty kill.
