Oct 18, 2018

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Corpus Christi IceRays, members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), announced Thursday a series of roster transactions. Three players were added to the roster, including Swiss goaltender Akira Schmid, a draft pick of the NHL’s New Jersey Devils (2018: 5th round/136th overall), as well as forward Ryan Willett and defenseman Camron Cervone.

The IceRays also acquired a tender selection for the 2019 NAHL Draft from the Jamestown Rebels in exchange for defenseman Yuri Davis-Martel.

Jersey numbers for the additions are as follows:
-#1 G Akira Schmid
-#8 F Ryan Willett
-#27 D Camron Cervone

To make room for the additions, Corpus Christi released goaltender Ethan Peterson and forward Azzaro Tinling.

“I think we are close to getting the pieces that we need to be very successful,” said head coach Ryan Cruthers. “I like the way that this group is trending. I like how close they are becoming on and off the ice. It is a great group to be around.”

Next up for the IceRays, who are in the midst of a season-long 13-game homestand, are visits from both Alaskan teams in the NAHL, starting with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs on Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20. Puck drop both nights is set for 7:05 PM. The following weekend will see the Kenai River Brown Bears come to town.

Single game tickets, season seat memberships, group tickets and suites for the 2018-19 IceRays season are now on sale. Visit goicerays.com or call 361-814-PUCK for tickets or more information.
