JACKALOPES DEFEAT ICERAYS 6-1 FRIDAY

ODESSA, Texas – The Corpus Christi IceRays (9-9-2-3, 23 pts.) gave up a season-high six goals Friday in a 6-1 loss to the Odessa Jackalopes (7-9-1-1, 16 pts.) at Ector County Coliseum.

The Jackalopes jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. Jake Vaughan scored from the right wing at 4:51 to open the scoring. Nick Grimaldi made it 2-0 at 16:00 off a feed from Kam Ottenbreit. Jan Blasko then jammed in a power play tally at 17:44.

Corpus Christi’s Michael Krupinski scored the lone goal of the second period off a feed from Brandon Cimino at 15:05. The IceRays appeared to score again near the end of the second period but the goal was disallowed.

Former IceRays forward Jack Rudin scored at 9:53 of the third period to put the Jackalopes back up by three. Isaiah Heumpfner (13:36) and Hunter Brackett (16:57) added goals late.

Odessa outshot Corpus Christi by a 30-26 margin.
