Nov 19, 2019

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – This Saturday, Nov. 23, the Corpus Christi IceRays host their 12th annual Stars & Stripes Night presented by Whataburger and Moda Midstream. The game honors area members of the military and first responders. Faceoff is at 7:05 p.m. CT as the IceRays face the Shreveport Mudbugs at American Bank Center.

“We are proud to continue our tradition of Stars & Stripes Night here at the IceRays,” said team president Cassidy Lange. “It is our way of saying thank you to those who serve our Coastal Bend community to keep us safe and protect our freedom in the United States.”

The IceRays have been delivering ticket vouchers to first responders, law enforcement officials and military members around the Coastal Bend area. Active military, veterans and first responders can show their corresponding ID at the American Bank Center Box Office to receive free entry to the game.

The IceRays will wear camouflage green specialty jerseys Friday and Saturday. The jerseys, sponsored by First Title Company, KIII 3 News, Sparklight, Navy Federal Credit Union, Atomic Omelette & Grill, IBEW Local 278, EEES Energy Solutions, Mike Shaw Toyota, and Craft Training Center of the Coastal Bend, will be available to the public for bidding in the post-game jersey auction inside the American Bank Center Arena immediately following Saturday’s game.

“Whataburger is proud to partner with the Corpus Christi IceRays to provide a fun night for our men and women in uniform and their families,” said Whataburger Regional Director of Operations Aaron Valdez. “We’ve been serving the Corpus Christi community since 1950 and it is a pleasure to give back to those who have served our community and our country.”

Stars & Stripes Night has averaged over 5,000 fans since its inception in the 2008-09 season. The IceRays will also host a post-game skate with the players, presented by Braselton Homes, immediately following the games on Friday and Saturday.

“It is an honor and privilege to be able to recognize the men and women who serve our community and our nation,” said First Title Company CEO Brent Chesney, who helped establish the event 11 years ago. “To be able to thank all those first responders and military members by being a part of Stars & Stripes Night is truly an honor.”

The IceRays and Mudbugs also face off Friday at 7:05 p.m. at American Bank Center. Following Saturday’s Stars & Stripes Night, the IceRays remain home for two more weekends with games against the New Mexico Ice Wolves (Nov. 29-30) and Lone Star Brahmas (Dec. 6-7). Tickets for all 2019-20 IceRays home games are on sale now at the American Bank Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets.
