NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas – The Lone Star Brahmas held on for a 3-2 victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays Friday night at NYTEX Sports Centre. Lone Star left wing Michal Stinil scored twice for the Brahmas while netminder Harrison Feeney made 35 saves.

The Brahmas led 3-0 at the second intermission before Kyle Moore and former Brahma Jack Sampson scored for the IceRays in the third period. Corpus Christi (9-11-1-0, 19 pts.) went 0-for-7 on the power play while the Brahmas (11-7-2-2, 26 pts.) were 2-for-4.

The IceRays and Brahmas rematch Saturday night in the Fort Worth area with faceoff at NYTEX Sports Centre set for 7:30 PM CT. The game will be carried live on Sportsradio Corpus Christi and HockeyTV.

The Brahmas started the night with one-timer goals on their first two power plays—Blake Evennou scored from the left point at 6:49, and Stinil registered his first of the night from the right wing at 11:24.

The IceRays outshot the Brahmas by a 16-7 margin in the second period, but Lone Star scored the lone goal of the frame when Stinil picked up his second of the night at 4:18.

Moore got the IceRays on the board in the third period with a backhanded jam at the post at 7:32. Sampson then scored his first as an IceRay when he scored on his former teammate Feeney at 14:36.

Corpus Christi pulled netminder Sam Best in the game’s final minutes in an attempt to tie the game. Blake Bennett was whistled for a high-sticking minor at 17:54, but the IceRays brought Best back to the bench to even things up at 5-on-5 with an empty net, however they were unable to put a third puck past Feeney before time expired.

Following Saturday’s month-closing rematch, the IceRays have a bye week to start December, then return to American Bank Center for the final two home games of the calendar year. Corpus Christi will face the Odessa Jackalopes Dec. 7-8, including the IceRays’ Teddy Bear Toss as part of the Saturday contest.
