ICERAYS FALL 4-1 ON STARS & STRIPES NIGHT

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Corpus Christi IceRays lost 4-1 Saturday to the Shreveport Mudbugs at American Bank Center. The game was the 12th annual Stars & Stripes Night presented by Whataburger and Moda Midstream with a season-high 4,291 fans in attendance.

Erik Bargholtz scored Corpus Christi’s lone goal of the game for a second night in a row. The IceRays (11-11-2-3, 27 pts.) dropped back to the .500 mark while the Mudbugs (15-8-0-0, 30 pts.) moved into sole possession of third place in the South Division.

Bargholtz opened the scoring just 2:10 into the game with a rebound goal past Richie Parent. Tod Philibert and Sacha Guillemain recorded the assists.

Shreveport’s Ryan Waltman tied the game just over five minutes later with a deflection of Carson Nichols’ shot, then Nichols notched the eventual game-winning goal at 12:19 from Waltman.

Billy Feczko scored over the glove 57 seconds into the second period, and Gio Procopio added a goal at 15:13 of the third period, as the Mudbugs picked up their fourth win against Corpus Christi this season.

Parent and Corpus Christi’s Cal Sandquist each made 23 saves. Neither team scored on the power play over the two-game weekend set.

The IceRays remain home the next two weekends with games against the New Mexico Ice Wolves (Nov. 29-30) and Lone Star Brahmas (Dec. 6-7).
