IceRays Battle for Home-Ice Advantage During Final Stretch
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — The Corpus Christi IceRays (28-21-6, 62 pts) have officially secured their spot in the postseason following a 6-2 win against Lone Star over the weekend, becoming the fourth team to do so in the South Division.
This achievement marks the seventh time in organizational history that the IceRays have advanced to the playoffs, further solidifying the organization’s growing consistency and competitiveness. Notably, this is the first time the team has earned postseason appearances in back-to-back seasons since 2018 and 2019.
In addition to their playoff qualification, the IceRays are set to finish the season with consecutive winning records for the first time since that same 2018–2019 stretch. The milestone underscores the team’s development, resilience, and commitment to building a winning culture both on and off the ice.
“This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our players, coaches, and staff all season long,” said CEO Steve Donner. “We’re proud of what this group has accomplished and excited for the opportunity to compete in the postseason.”
The IceRays still have plenty to fight for in the final four games in the regular season as they battle for home-ice advantage in the first round of playoffs.
After splitting their weekend series with the Brahmas (79 points), the IceRays remain in fourth place, holding onto the final position for home-ice advantage in the opening round. Their closest challenger is the Shreveport Mudbugs (59 points), who sit in fifth place after a strong weekend that saw them earn three points against Odessa (51 points). El Paso (68 pts) moved within one point of New Mexico (69 pts) after a sweep of the Ice Wolves in a tussle for a first-round bye.
The race for the final playoff spot in the division remains tight. Oklahoma (57 points) currently occupies the sixth seed after winning two of three games over the weekend, keeping them firmly in the hunt. Meanwhile, Amarillo (44 points) has been mathematically eliminated from postseason contention with just four games left in the regular season.
