Corpus Christi Targets Long-Term Development Through 2026 Futures Draft
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — The Corpus Christi IceRays announced today the selection of defenseman Timmy Sullivan and forward Patrick Guite in the 2026 North American Hockey League (NAHL) Futures Draft.
The Futures Draft is designed to give 16-year-old players early exposure to junior hockey and support their path to NCAA hockey through the NAHL’s proven development model. Each NAHL team will select two players born in 2010, one in each of the draft’s two rounds.
With their first selection, Corpus Christi selected Timmy Sullivan, a talented 2010-born defenseman who has established himself as a promising young prospect through youth hockey competition. Sullivan brings offensive skill, hockey sense, and long-term development potential to the IceRays prospect pool.
“Timmy (Sullivan) is a predator type neutral zone defender mixed in with elite skating, said Skerlick. He will have no issue being in a tough and physical south division.”
In the second round, the IceRays chose Patrick Guite, a forward from Scarborough, Maine. Guite, born on November 8, 2010, is coming off a season with the Maine Jr. Mariners 16U AAA program where posted 48 points in 51 games. The left-shot forward stands 5-foot-8 and weighs 150 pounds.
“Patrick (Guite) played his 16u AAA year and was nearly a point per game, said IceRays Head Coach Nick Skerlick. He’s a smart player, generates lots of chances for himself and teammates with his IQ.”
The NAHL remains one of North America’s premier junior hockey leagues and a leading pathway to NCAA hockey, helping hundreds of players advance to collegiate and professional opportunities each season.
Skerlick added, “We are excited to welcome Patrick and Timmy to the IceRays organization. Both players have demonstrated strong potential at the youth level, and we look forward to following their development in the years ahead. The Futures Draft allows us to identify and build relationships with talented young players who fit the culture and direction of our program.”
