Led IceRays with Five Points at NAHL Showcase
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — The Corpus Christi IceRays are proud to announce that forward Michael Azzarone has been named the South Division’s North American Hockey League’s (NAHL) Second Star of the Week following an outstanding three-game performance at the 2026 NAHL Showcase.
Azzarone was instrumental in the IceRays success throughout the Showcase, recording five points in three games while leading Corpus Christi in scoring during the event. The forward opened the Showcase with a three-point performance against the Elmira Aviators as the IceRays earned a 7-4 victory.
Azzarone saved his biggest moment for the IceRays matchup with the Idaho Falls Spud Kings, finding the back of the net late in regulation to score the game-winning goal, while also adding an assist in the contest.
His five-point weekend helped propel the IceRays through a strong Showcase showing and continued an impressive start to the 2026-27 season.
Through nine games, Azzarone has recorded 9 points on two goals and seven assists, putting him tied for the IceRays team lead in points with Oliver Czaja.
Azzarone’s recognition marks another highlight for an IceRays squad that continues to make its mark early in the 2026-27 NAHL season.
