A STATEMENT REGARDING BILLET DAD ALLEN MORRIS

Apr 29, 2016

It is with heavy hearts that the Corpus Christi IceRays organization notes the loss of one of our own, Mr. Allen Morris. Allen passed away early this morning after his battle with pancreatic cancer.

Allen and Debbie Morris have been part of the IceRays family from the beginning of the transition to the junior franchise. After serving as the Corpus Christi Hooks’ Billet Coordinator and attending IceRays games, Allen and Debbie were asked by IceRays Billet Coordinator Shelly Bram to host hockey players during the fall, winter, and early spring months. Over the last six seasons, the Morris family has opened their doors to 14 players, including: Derrek Schartz, Colton Saucerman, Mychal Monteith, Josh Obregon, Matt Laprade, Phil Pietroniro, Jalen Schulz, Chris Stovall, Hayden Stewart, Forbes Ploszaj, Michael Mahan, Wes Michaud, Mason Krueger, and Andy McGlynn.

Over the years, the Morris family has not only become an integral aspect of our player billeting but also strong fans of the players and a model family for their devotion to their hosted players. Allen has become a second dad to many players that have stayed in the Morris household, and the Morris family continues to be a strong member of the IceRays family.

The IceRays organization sends our deepest condolences to Debbie, their family and friends, our current and former players, and all those that have been touched by the kind heart of Allen in this difficult time. The IceRays encourage the community to share stories and thoughts about Allen and continue the legacy that he has left.

We love you, Allen. You will be sincerely missed by the entire IceRays family.
