BEAU WALKER NAMED TO ALL-SOUTH DIVISION TEAM

FRISCO, TX- The North American Hockey League (NAHL) announced today that Corpus Christi IceRays forward Beau Walker has been named to the 2010-11 All-South Division Team as selected by the league’s coaches and general managers.

Also selected were Michael Hill and Justin Hussar from the Topeka RoadRunners, Derek Hills and Nikifor Szczerba from the Amarillo Bulls, and Ralfs Freibergs from the Texas Tornado.

“Beau had a career year for us here in Corpus Christi and this award is well-deserved,” said assistant coach Justin Quenneville.  “We wish him nothing but the best as he progresses in his hockey career and prepares for next season .”

Walker, 18, led the IceRays in scoring with 62 points in 56 games played this season.  He was second on the team in goals with 21 and first in assists with 41 helpers. 

Around the league, the West Richland, Washington native finished tied for 13th in scoring and tied for 1st with 24 power-play assists.

In addition, Walker was named to both Top Prospects tournament held in Walpole, MA and Ann Arbor, MI this season.

 

Walker is one of 24 players named to an all-division team.

The All-NAHL Team, All-Rookie Team, Forward of the Year, Defenseman of the Year, Goaltender of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year, General Manager of the Year and Organization of the Year, along with the Academic Achievement Award, Dick’s Sporting Goods Community Service Awards and Mark Messier Leadership Award winners, will be announced within the week.
