BRAHMAS SPLIT THE WEEKEND WITH 4-2 WIN OVER ‘RAYS

Feb 28, 2014

N. RICHLAND HILLS, TX – Former IceRay Roman Uchyn scored twice and assisted the game winner as the Lone Star Brahmas tallied three power-play goal en route to a 4-2 win and a weekend split over the Corpus Christi IceRays on Saturday night inside the NYTEX Sports Complex.

Maurin Bouvet kicked off the scoring with a gift wrapped tap in early on in regulation.  On a scrum in front of the net, players were searching for the puck which came rolling right onto the stick of a wide open Bouvet who tapped in his 10th goal of the year and 25th over point for a 1-0 IceRays lead just 1:21 into the game.  The goal was unassisted.

The lead didn’t last long as the Brahmas power-play started off the game on the right note.  While working the man advantage at the top of the offensive circles, Thomas Aldworth fired a shot on net that was stopped by Ben Myers and the rebound went right to Kellen Wasell who scored his ninth of the year to even the score 1-1 at 4:54 of the first period.  Aldworth and Conner Enciso with assists on the game tying power-play goal.

Just 32 seconds after the Brahmas tied the game, Corpus Christi took the lead for the second time of the night.  Off the next faceoff, Joey Palumbo hit Joe Chitwood with a pass down the left wing wall.  Chitwood pushed his way to the front of the net and at the bottom of the left wing circle sent a hard backhand shot over the left shoulder of goaltender TJ Black for his third of the year at 5:26 of the first frame for a 2-1 Corpus Christi lead.

Roman Uchyn had many chances on Friday night and it paid off tonight on the power-play.  While up a skater in the second period, Anthony Mousseau fed Uchyn with a nice pass who wristed the puck by Ben Myers to once again tie the game up, this time at two goals apiece.  Sebastian Vidmar added the secondary assist on the game tying strike at 9:01 of the second period.  After two periods of play the IceRays had the Brahmas outshot 19-13.

In the third period another penalty proved costly for the IceRays as Matt Lison scored the game winner just 5:18 into the final stanza with assists from Sebastian Vidmar and Roma Uchyn.  Lison scooped up the loose puck in the slot and beat Myers on the shot for the 3-2 lead.

Uchyn got his second of the game and it was an empty net goal to seal the win and give the Brahmas a 4-2 lead with 2:01 left in the game.
