Mar 12, 2015

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The Corpus Christi IceRays stride closer to the end of the season as they kick off a strong promotional weekend when they play the Wichita Falls Wildcats this Friday and Saturday at the American Bank Center. Not only is it the final meetings between the IceRays and Wildcats for the season but also a chance for the IceRays to clinch both a spot in the playoffs for the second time in franchise history and the franchise wins record with just one victory.

The IceRays open their two-game weekend on Friday with Miracle League Night, presented by Avis and Corpus Christi Disposal. The Miracle League of Corpus Christi will not only be joining the audience for the evening’s game but also will provide a game of Broomball on the ice during one intermission. The IceRays and Miracle League members came together to introduce the game a few weeks ago in preparation for Friday’s game. More information about the Miracle League of Corpus Christi can be found at www.tmlcc.org. Friday is also Frosty Friday with $1 beer and soda provided throughout the game.

On Saturday night, the IceRays bring back their annual Faith & Family Night, presented by TLC Complete Care. The game will be followed by contemporary Christian musician, Chris August, ahead of his new album, The Maker. August, a native of Garland, Texas, makes his first appearance in Corpus Christi and will bring tracks from his newest album set to release April 7, 2015 as well as tracks from his first two studio albums. For more information about Chris August and his music, visit www.ChrisAugustMusic.com. Saturday is also a Corpus Christi Caller-Times Family 4-Pack Night, for which fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs, and four sodas for just $46.

The IceRays and Wildcats meet for the final two times of the 2014-15 regular season. The IceRays split their last home series against the Wildcats with a 7-4 win on Oct. 30 and a 3-1 loss on Oct. 31. So far this season, the IceRays hold a 2-4-0 record against Wichita Falls and 16-21-6 all-time over the past five seasons. The IceRays won their last meeting 5-4 on Jan. 23 for their first win at the Kay Yeager Coliseum since Nov. 30, 2013. The Wildcats are two points behind the Topeka RoadRunners for a possible first-round bye at the start of a season-ending eight-game road stretch. The IceRays are four points away from clinching their second berth into the Robertson Cup Playoffs in junior franchise history.
