COPE RECORDS FIRST POINT IN 6-1 LOSS

ODESSA, TX – Trevor Cope recorded his first point as a member of the Corpus Christi IceRays, however Corpus Christi fell to the Odessa Jackalopes Saturday night by a final score of 6-1 inside the Ector County Coliseum.

After no scoring in the first period the Jackalopes drew first blood 9:13 into the second on the power-play as Lawrence Cornellier beat IceRays goaltender Sean Keating for a 1-0 lead.

Odessa struck again, this time on a questionable call for a penalty shot.  Tyler Poulson got a second chance and capitalized, for a 2-0 lead.

A short-handed goal gave Odessa a 3-0 lead on an odd man rush.  Jared Docken took a pass and one-timed it past Keating 14:59 into the second period.

Danny Fetzer got the IceRays on the board late in the second period as he beat Connor Hellebuyck on a wrap-around goal pulling Corpus Christi within two goals 17:26 into the period.

The Jackalopes took a 4-1 lead on another short-handed goal, this time off the stick of Josh Obregon.

Odessa added two more goals in the third period courtesy of Jalen Krogman and Tyler Cayemberg that sealed a 6-1 victory for the Jackalopes.

Sean Keating made 27 saves in the loss.

The IceRays are on the road this week as they take on the Topeka Roadrunners beginning Wednesday night.  Puck drops at 7:05PM, coverage begins at 6:50PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on ESPN Radio 1440AM.
