Corpus Christi Falls To Oklahoma 6-1 Saturday At American Bank Center

Corpus Christi, Texas – Adjustments are part of the game plan when heading into the second game of a series.

Following their 4-2 loss at the hands of the Corpus Christi IceRays Friday night, the Oklahoma Warriors made the adjustments necessary to bounce back.

The Warriors snapped a 1-1 tie with a pair of goals in the second and third periods en route to a 6-1 win over the IceRays Saturday night in front of over 4,500 fans at the American Bank Center.

“We had no energy,” IceRays head coach Sylvain Cloutier said. “We weren’t organized as a group.”

Cooper Boulanger scored a pair of goals for Oklahoma. Owen Carlile, Dominic Elliot, Carter Sproule and Kaden Nelson each added a goal for the Warriors, who earned a split in the two games over the weekend.

Will Reardon scored the goal for the IceRays.

“We played a great game Friday, and tonight was a different story,” Cloutier said. “We need to be consistent, and we need to figure that out.”

Oklahoma outshot Corpus Christi 34-25 including 13-8 in the first period and 9-5 in the second.

Corpus Christi is now 6-10-1, 1SOL for 14 points and in ninth place NAHL South Division behind Odessa, following the Jackalopes 6-1 win over Colorado Saturday.

Oklahoma improved to 10-5-3, 1SOL for 24 points and moved up to third place in the division.

Carlisle got Oklahoma on the board with his third goal of the season in the first minute of the contest.
Reardon collected his first goal as an IceRay, and fifth goal of the year on assists by Zakhar Polshakov and Mathieu Bourgault at 8:10 and the game was tied at 1-1 after one period.

Boulanger put Oklahoma back on top with his fifth goal of the year at 16:24.

Boulanger came right back just over three minutes later with his second of the night and sixth of the season at 19:31 to make it 3-1 Oklahoma after two periods.

Elliot scored his first of the year at 3:26 of the third to increase the Warriors lead to 4-1.
Sproule got his third goal at 7:00 of the third period to increase the lead to 5-1.

Nelson closed out the scoring at 17:32 with his ninth goal.

The IceRays and Warriors will go at it again next Friday and Saturday Night at 7:35 CST at the Blazers Ice Centre in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
