Corpus Christi IceRays Continue Rivalry With Shreveport On The Road Friday And Saturday

Corpus Christi, Texas – The Corpus Christi IceRays will once again face off against the Shreveport Mudbugs, this time in Shreveport Friday and Saturday night at 7:11 p.m. CST at Georges Pond Hirsch Coliseum.

The IceRays fell to the Mudbugs 7-2 February 10 in the finale of a three-game weekend series at American Bank Center.

The Mudbugs are 8-2-0, 1SOL against Corpus Christi with three-straight straight win over the IceRays, while the Corpus Christi is 3-7-1, 1SOL in 11 games this season after going 0-8 a year ago.

“We had a nice skate in Austin and were able to finally skate,” IceRays Head Coach Sylvain Cloutier said. “We will need to be at our best.”

The IceRays will need to lock down on Brayden Cook, who had a hat trick in the game on the 10th.

The Mudbugs outshot the IceRays in that game 51-25 and 17-4 in the first period.

Corpus Christi is now 2-5-0, 0SOL in its last six contests and 5-7-0, 1SOL in its last 13 games.

Overall, the IceRays are now 14-25-1, 3SOL for 32 points, in eighth place in the NAHL South Division, eight points behind the Odessa Jackalopes for seventh, and 17 points behind the Oklahoma Warriors for sixth.

Shreveport is in second place in points with a record of 31-11-0, 2SOL for 64 points, four points ahead of the El Paso Rhinos, and seven points behind the division-leading Lone Star Brahmas.

“With all the new additions, we’ve started over,” Cloutier said. “We have a young team now so it will take time.”

After Friday, the IceRays and Mudbugs will conclude the series Saturday night in Shreveport at 7:11 p.m.
