Corpus Christi IceRays Head Into Holiday Break With A Pair On The Road Against Lone Star

Corpus Christi, Texas – With the holiday break on the horizon, the Corpus Christi IceRays have visions of not going into the break empty-handed.

In order to gain valuable points, The IceRays will need to knock off the top team in the NAHL South Division, the Lone Star Brahmas as the two teams square off Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 CST at the NYTEX Sports Center.

It’s the fourth and fifth meetings between the two teams with IceRays going 0-2-0, 1SOL.

Lone Star downed Corpus Christi 5-3 and 6-0 October 27 and 28 at the American Bank Center.

The Brahmas got past the IceRays 3-2 in a shootout at the NYTEX Sports Center November 22.

The IceRays are in eighth place in the NAHL South Division at 9-16-1, 2 SOL for 21 points.

Lone Star is atop the South Division at 22-6-1, 2SOL for an NAHL-best 47 points.

“This is a big weekend before we go on break,” IceRays head coach Sylvain Cloutier said. “We need to get something out of it. We can’t go empty-handed.”

Pierson Sobush leads the IceRays with 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists).

Anthony Cafarelli has scored 11 goals and added 11 assists for 22 points.

Mathieu Bourgault has 20 points on five goals and 15 assists.

Brock James leads Lone Star with 30 points (11 goals and 19 assists).

Ivan Zadvernyuk has collected eight goals and added 21 assists for 29 points.

Justin Kerr has 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points.

“We will need to be at our best,” Cloutier said. “No excuses.”
