Corpus Christi IceRays Set To Close Out Season At Home Against Odessa At ABC

Corpus Christi, Texas – It’s been a season of twists, turns, and changes for the Corpus Christi IceRays.

And the 2023-24 season will officially come to a close this weekend as the IceRays host the Odessa Jackalopes Thursday and Friday night at 7:05 at the American Bank Center.

Five IceRays players, Zakhar Polshakov, Dylan Jensen, Griffin Zaske, Luca Fasciano and Wolfgang Govedaris, will be appearing in their final games on the junior level.

“It’s a sad weekend as our 03’s will be playing their last junior games so hopefully the team makes it a great weekend for them,” IceRays Head Coach Sylvain Cloutier said.

Corpus Christi is coming off a three-week stretch, all on the road where the IceRays split the six games, 3-3.

The IceRays have won three of their last six games and are 5-9-0, 0SOL in their last 14 games, 6-14-0, 0SOL in their last 20 contests and 10-17-0, 1SOL in their last 28 games.

Overall, the IceRays are 19-34-2, 3SOL for 43 points, in eighth place in the NAHL South Division, seven points behind the Jackalopes for seventh, and 22 points behind the Warriors for sixth.

Odessa is 21-29-5, 3SOL for 50 points and are 15 points behind the Oklahoma Warriors.

Pierson Sobush leads the IceRays in points with 38 (18 goals and 20 assists).

Polshakov has 31 points with nine goals and 22 assists.

Stepan Kuznetsov has 17 goals and 12 assists for 29 points.

Cameron Dunn leads Odessa with 21 goals and 31 assists for 52 points.

Michael Kadlecik has 51 points on 15 goals and 36 assists.

The IceRays are 4-2 against the Jackalope this season.

“It will be nice for them to finish at home in front of a packed house,” Cloutier said. “Obviously, we want to finish strong at home.”
