Corpus Christi IceRays Set To Host Shreveport Mudbugs Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Corpus Christi, Texas – The Corpus Christi IceRays return home to host the Shreveport Mudbugs on Friday and Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon at the American Bank Center.

The IceRays are coming off a 2-2-0, 1SOL road trip and are looking for some home cooking and a win to move up the standings.

Corpus Christi is 8-12-1, 2 SOL for 19 points and sitting in eighth place in the NAHL South Division, two points ahead of Colorado.

Shreveport is in a three-way tie for third place in the South at 14-7-0 1 SOL for 29 points.

“It’s a big weekend, we need to get something out of this series,” IceRays head coach Sylvain Cloutier said. “Take it one game at a time.”

The two teams split their first two games in Shreveport. The Mudbugs won the first meeting 3-2 on October 13, while the IceRays came back with a 3-2 overtime victory the next night on October 14.

“We expect it to be pretty intense,” Cloutier said. “We also need our fans to bring that energy this weekend.”

Pierson Sobush leads Corpus Christi with 21 points (eight goals and 13 assists).

Anthony Cafarelli has scored a team-high 11 goals to go along with eight assists for 19 points.

Mathieu Bourgault is third on the team with 17 points (three goals and 14 assists).

Billy Biedermann is fourth in scoring with five goals and 10 assists with 15 points.

Hayden Nichol paces Shreveport with 23 points (nine goals and 14 assists).

Logan Heroux has 19 points on seven goals and 12 assists. Ryan Burke (nine goals and eight assists), and Brayden Cook (three goals and 14 assists) each have 17 points.

Billy Biedermann, Pierson Sobush NAHL South Star of the Week Honorable Mention.

Biedermann, Sobush earn NAHL South Honorable Mention Star of the Week Honors

IceRays forwards Billy Biedermann and Pierson Sobush were named NAHL Honorable Mention South Star of the Week.

Biedermann scored a pair of goals and added an assist in Corpus Christi’s 7-3 win at the Colorado Grit November 25.

Sobush collected an assist in the IceRays 3-2 shootout loss at Lone Star November 22. He added two goals and two assists in the win at Colorado.

Friday and Saturday’s games are at 7:05 p.m. CST and Saturday afternoon’s contest is at 4 p.m. CST.
