Corpus Christi IceRays To Host Lone Star Brahmas Friday And Saturday At American Bank Center

Corpus Christi, Texas – The Corpus Christi IceRays are getting ready to host the top team in the NAHL South Division, the Lone Star Brahmas on Friday and Saturday night at 7:05 CST at American Bank Center.

The IceRays are coming off a 5-4 victory over the Colorado Grit Sunday afternoon.

Corpus Christi is 2-4-0, 0SOL in its last six games, 3-9-0, 0SOL in its last 12 contests and 7-12-0, 1SOL in its last 20 games.

Overall, the IceRays are 16-29-2, 3SOL for 37 points, in eighth place in the NAHL South Division, 10 points behind the Odessa Jackalopes for seventh, and 19 points behind the Oklahoma Warriors for sixth.

Lone Star is 38-10-3, 3SOL for 82 points. The Brahmas split a pair of games at El Paso, winning 4-1 and falling 4-3.

“Any time you play the best team in our division, we will need to be on our A game,” IceRays Head Coach Sylvain Cloutier said. “We can’t afford to take a shift off.”

The Brahmas are 6-0 against the IceRays, while Corpus Christi is 0-5-0, 1SOL. The two teams last met February 19 with Lone Star pulling out a 4-3 win.

Pierson Sobush, who collected a three-goal hat trick in the win over Colorado, leads the IceRays with 16 goals to go along with 19 assists for 35 points.

Zakhar Polshakov has seven goals and 18 assists for 25 points. Stepan Kuznetsov has scored 14 goals and has 10 assists for 24 points.

Ivan Zadvernyuk leads Lone Star 2ith 55 points on 17 goals and 38 assists.

Brock James and Justin Kerr each have 20 goals, while Jacob MacDonald has scored 19 goals.

“Special teams will need to be really good and we will need to compete for 60 minutes,” Cloutier said.

The IceRays will host their annual Super Hero night on Saturday.
