D’ARRISSO NETS PAIR, MYERS STOPS 32, ICERAYS CRUISE 7-2

Oct 11, 2012

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi IceRays broke out on Friday night on home ice against the Wichita Falls Wildcats scoring seven goals, while goaltender Ben Myers put aside 32 of 34 shots in a 7-2 victory that leap-frogged Corpus Christi into 4th place in the South Division.

The scoring started just 28 seconds into the game as Emil Romig fired a turn-around shot from a bad angle and found a hole in Evan Cowley for a 1-0 lead.

Roman Uchyn struck at the 6:18 mark of the first period as McGilvrey fed him at the top of the circle.  Uchyn ripped a wrister upstairs for a 2-0 lead.  The other assist was credited to Tommy Telesca.

The lone goal of the middle period came from Joe Ginley, his first of the year.  Ginley broke in on a breakaway and beat Cowley low to take a 3-0 lead.  His goal went unassisted.

Corpus Christi pushed to a 4-0 lead courtesy of the captain Perry D’Arrisso.  John Roisum snapped a shot from the left point.  D’Arrisso deflected the puck past Cowley early in the third period.

The four goal lead didn’t last long when Erik Ouellette notched a goal 3:31 into the third period that pulled the Wildcats within three goals.

The IceRays regained that four goal lead once again from Perry D’Arrisso’s second marker of the game that pushed Corpus Christi to a 5-1 lead.

The Wildcats cut that lead once again with 6:47 left in the game off the stick of Rudy Junda making it 5-2.

Phil Pietroniro and Eric Purcell tacked on goals late for the IceRays who picked up the 7-2 home victory.  Ben Myers notched his first win as an IceRays goalie stopped 32 of 34 shots.
