DERY EXTENDS POINT STREAK IN LOSS

AMARILLO, TX – The Corpus Christi IceRays scored early to take a 1-0 lead courtesy of Michael Dery who extended his point streak to six games.  However, Amarillo picked up the 10-3 victory inside the Amarillo Civic Center on Friday night.

Michael Dery increased his point streak tonight with his sixth goal of the year off a pass from Brandon Smith on an odd man rush beating goaltender Mike Taffe to take a 1-0 lead 9:37 into the game.

The Bulls struck shortly after that 11:24 into the first period on an interception TJ Sarcona fed Tyler Deresky who backhanded the puck past Anthony Stolarz to tie the game.

Amarillo took the lead on a huge scramble in front of the net.  Geoff Fortman slid the puck from the point past a diving Stolarz to give the Bulls a 2-1 lead with 6:05 left in the first period.

The Bulls turned it on in the second period as Brooks Behling notched a short-handed goal 2:01 into the period to take a 3-1 advantage.

Matt Johnson then walked in, scoring on Anthony Stolarz just 1:40 after Behling scored, to give Amarillo a 4-1 lead.

Brooks Behling was not done, he scored his second goal of the night 4:34 into the middle period for a 5-1 Bulls lead.  That ended the night for Anthony Stolarz as he was replaced by newcomer Matt Laprade.

Right after that Joe Ginley gave Corpus Christi the goal they were looking for to get back into the game assisted from Beau Walker pulled the IceRays within three goals with 15:15 left in the period.

Amarillo scored two short-handed goals in a row on Laprade as TJ Sarcona and Greg Gibson each scored to make it a 7-2 lead at the end of two periods.

After Amarillo made it 9-2, AJ Jarosz scored his third goal in two games as he beat goaltender Mike Taffe between the legs at 12:09 of the third period. 

The Bulls tacked on another goal with 6:17 left in the game taking a 10-3 lead.

Anthony Stolarz and Matt Laprade each stopped 16 of 21 shots in the loss.

The IceRays take on Amarillo tomorrow night once again.  Puck drops at 7:00PM, coverage begins at 6:45PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on ESPN Radio 1440AM.
