DERY STAYS HOT, ICERAYS LOSE 6-2

FRISCO, TX – Michael Dery scored his third goal in two games, however Texas beat the Corpus Christi IceRays 6-2 Wednesday night inside Dr. Pepper Arena.

Anthony Stolarz stopped a huge shorthanded breakaway attempt in the first period, however just as both sides thought they would go into the first intermission scoreless the IceRays took a penalty, and Texas capitalized on the power-play as Jack Prince took a rebound firing it past Stolarz with 36 seconds left in the first period for a 1-0 lead.

Texas took a 2-0 just 49 seconds into the second period off the stick of Jordan Greenberg from behind the net. 

The Tornado would not let up scoring with just 26 seconds left in the second period this time courtesy of Jordan Lovick beating Anthony Stolarz for a 3-0 Texas lead at the end of two periods of play.

Jack Prince notched a goal on the power-play 5:40 into the third period with his second of the night for a 4-0 lead.

Corpus Christi did not give up however as Eric Purcell weaved in and out of defenders on the power-play beating goaltender Joakim Jutras pulling the IceRays within three goals.

The Tornado regained their four goal lead off the stick of Conner Burton 9:30 into the final period making it a 5-1 score.

Michael Dery has been hot as of late and continued tonight scoring this third goal in two games once again pulling the IceRays within three goals.

Jack Prince got his hat-trick with 58 seconds left in the game to make it a 6-2 score.

Anthony Stolarz stopped 40 of 46 shots in the loss.
