FLASH MOB CROWD INVADES ICERAYS GAME

Mar 5, 2012

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi IceRays hosted the Amarillo Bulls on Thursday night inside the American Bank Center and at the start of the game the rink was fairly empty, but, for a reason.

The week prior to the contest, the IceRays front office planned a flash mob crowd.  Groups and individuals from all over the area poured into the American Bank Center’s third floor before the game making signs, painting faces, and carrying noise makers.  The flash mob sat where nobody saw them and at the first whistle after the 16:00 minute mark of the first period, thousands of fans poured into the rink electrifying the crowd.

“We got it done.  It turned out to be a great thing,” said IceRays General Manager Pat Dunn.  “There was electricity in the building that night and it was a lot of fun.”

The event took a lot of planning and coordinating from office staff, interns, and group leaders.  “It was a blast working with the IceRays,” said Lillia M. De La Garza, Certified Prevention Specialist at Project Turnaround.  “Each group had tons of fun cheering for the IceRays.”
