FOLLOW THE ICERAYS ON PERISCOPE

Aug 14, 2015

The IceRays are happy to introduce the newest addition to their social media platforms: Periscope, a free mobile app that allows the user to broadcast straight from their phone and "show the world through someone else's eyes."

"We're really excited about this platform," said Collin Schuck, Director of Communications & Broadcasting for the IceRays. "Over the past year, we've been brainstorming ways to provide better, more direct content to our fans and the Corpus Christi community and allow access that we haven't given before. With the addition of Periscope, we can provide direct content for our fans and reward them for being the best in the NAHL year in and year out."

Periscope was founded just over one year ago on the premise of letting users showcase what they see with others across the world directly from their mobile phones. People can log in using either their Twitter account or phone numbers and jump right in to the perspective of millions of people worldwide. Much like other social media platforms, viewers of a broadcast can "like" and "comment" on the videos shown, and these interactions appear on the screen in real-time to both the host and user, allowing for an interactive, community experience for those engaged.

In an effort to create a better fan experience, the IceRays are utilizing Periscope to provide exclusive content that won't appear on any other platform, such as streams of press conferences, player interviews, fan question and answer sessions, backstage tours, and views of practices and games both at home and on the road. For the first time in IceRays history (and within the NAHL), unprecedented access will be granted to the community.

This is the third new social media platform within the 2015 calendar year to be added into the team's arsenal, joining Instagram (/CorpusChristiIceRays) and Vine (@goicerays) as the most recent additions.

"This is going to be an exciting year for IceRays hockey not only on the ice but off it as well. This launch has been months in planning. We have some great ideas lined up for the new season, and we can't wait to share them with the IceRays family."
