FORMER ICERAY GARBUTT, CALLED UP TO DALLAS

Feb 16, 2012

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Former Corpus Christi IceRay standout Ryan Garbutt has been called up to the Dallas Stars from the Texas Stars (AHL affiliate) earlier today.

Garbutt spent the 2009-2010 season with the IceRays in the CHL fresh out of Brown University in the ECAC.  With the IceRays, he scored 22 goals and 28 assists in 64 games during his rookie campaign.

With the promotion, Garbutt is the first player who was in Corpus Christi to make it to the NHL in 14 seasons.  Garbutt gets the call-up a day after Jamie Benn was cut in the leg with a skate and will miss Saturday’s game in Phoenix.

This year with the Texas Stars in the AHL, Garbutt is fourth on the team in points with 16 goals and 17 assists in 50 games.

The IceRays host New Mexico tonight during “Pink the Rink” night.  Puck drops at 7:05PM, coverage begins at 6:50PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on ESPN Radio 1440AM.
