TONIGHT’S GAME … For only the second time all year the Corpus Christi IceRays defeated the Texas Tornado and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Heading into last night the Rays’ were in 5th place and outside of the playoffs looking in. By hanging onto a gutsy 3-2 road win, they now are two points ahead of Wichita Falls for that final playoff spot in the South. The power-play clicked in the third period as Mike Economos tallied two goals while on the man advantage. Hayden Stewart denied 35 of 37 chances for his 11th win of the year. Texas mounted a comeback with just 6:50 left in the game as Max Shuart picked up two goals but could not force overtime after a late barrage was pushed away by the IceRays.
